The legendary David Lee Garza y Los Musicales are making history at the Poteet Strawberry Festival with a special performance on Thursday, April 10, headlining the first-ever Berry Bash Musical Thursday. Presented by Jack Daniel’s Country Cocktails, the milestone night not only honors Garza’s deep roots in Poteet and lasting impact on the Tejano music scene but also celebrates the launch of their newest flavor, Strawberry Punch, which will be available for festivalgoers to enjoy throughout the weekend.
For over 78 years, the Poteet Strawberry Festival has been a cornerstone of the community, supporting scholarships, farmers, small businesses, and non-profits through its annual celebration of culture and tradition. For the first time, the festival is opening its gates on a Thursday night for a special musical tribute to David Lee Garza.
David Lee Garza has been a festival staple since 1988, traditionally taking the stage on Friday nights. Born and raised in Poteet, TX, Garza is a Grammy-winning artist whose unique blend of progressive conjunto, Tex-Mex, country, and Tejano has earned him a dedicated following. Over his 30+ year career, he has released over 30 albums, collaborated with icons like Little Joe y La Familia and Kevin Fowler, and helped launch the careers of major Tejano artists. Despite his widespread success, Garza remains deeply connected to his small-town roots, making this dedicated night in his honor a true celebration of his legacy.
The event will feature a mobile dance floor, placed in the center of the festival grounds, allowing fans to dance to Garza’s signature accordion melodies in the heart of the action. The night will run from 6:00 – 10:30 pm, offering an unforgettable evening of music, dancing, and hometown pride.
