As president of LULAC Council 4568 Est.1995, the oldest active council in Fort Worth I want to offer my congratulations to the newly elected board. My hope is that this new board will work to build unity among our councils and strengthen our communities.
This year, rights that were fought for decades ago seem at risk of being reduced or lost. Far too many elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels appear to be taking actions that will undermine the progress achieved through efforts and sacrifices of those that came before us.
That is why it is more important now than ever that historic civil rights organizations like LULAC stand strong and united. However, they cannot do it alone as Beto, the former candidate for governor, has been quoted as saying there is no standing on the sidelines, we all must be in the game.
So, once more congratulations to Jo Anna Cardoza District Director Elect and all new board members and know that you have an ally in Hola Texas and I personally.
