The outcome of the impeachment is what was expected, the Senate acquitted Trump. Of the four Republicans that could have voted to go against Trump, only two crossed over not enough to alter the outcome. The two Texas senators, Cornyn and Cruz they too were fearful of the Commander in Chief. Along with most Republicans were afraid that if they voted against Trump that he would come after them guns a blazing. They all marched in lockstep with the cult leader. From the beginning McConnell assured everyone that Trump would not be impeached. There was something about Trump receiving a fair trial. He did. Trump and McConnell rigged the trial so that every Republican would vote to acquit, except one. They were going to undo the wrong the Democrats had committed.

McConnell being one man how could he know how the other 52 were going to vote? It is called swamp politics. The Republicans proved to be a strong cult. For the Democrats it was a bitter pill to swallow. The Democrats proved their point. Even Republicans acknowledge that. But when you are afraid of the big bad wolf you have to be careful.

The loudest message that came out of the impeachment was: “It was inappropriate for the president to ask a foreign leader to investigate his political opponent and to withhold United States aid to encourage that investigation, “When elected officials inappropriately interfere with such investigations, it undermines the principle of equal justice under the law. But the Constitution does not give the Senate the power to remove the president from office and ban him from this year’s ballot simply for actions that are inappropriate.”

The House Republicans based their defense on the Rule of Law. Trump was denied his constitutional due process rights during the impeachment inquiry. This was their defense and they repeated this over and over again. They never defended what he did wrong. There was only one flaw with the Republican argument, they insisted on the Rule of Law when this was a political process. When it came down to the Trial at the Senate it was different, there would be no Rule of Law. The old saying, “What is good for the goose is good for the gander.” There’s a certain degree of truthfulness in the old saying “All’s fair in love and war.” And if McConnell is your adversary, watch your back. In the days of Rome, it would have been, “Beware of the Ides of March.” Republicans were true to the saying “Not my Yob.” I really thought governing was everybody’s “yob”, but I guess not. Why should we send Republicans to congress when they don’t have our interests in mind? The old saying goes, it is better to lose the battle and win the war.

Somethings are easy to predict. When historians look back at the Trump presidency, they will look at is the impeachment first. Simple reason for that, it is the bone with the most meat.

America is now a Communist country. We are a one-party country with a despotic ruler. What makes Trump so dangerous is that almost every word that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Millions of Americans saw the impeachment. Millions of Americans did not agree with the Republicans. The first Texas Senator that should go is Cornyn. We do not need him perpetuating Trumps lies.

From commentaries I hear, we live in a tribal society. Loyalty the tribe is more important than what is right or wrong. It is only the here and now that counts or matters. As a member of a tribe you forfeit your ability to think. Someone else does that for you. Sad. All Republicans went to school to be professionals. Yet, they set a poor example for all young generations. This does not mean that all Republicans are bad. They are not. But the Senators leave a lot to be desired.

Trump may have won the battle. Let’s see who wins the war.
