We all hear about immigration. Some even suggest comprehensive immigration reform. Wishing for that is like wishing for the winning lottery ticket. Sometimes you win, most of the times you lose.

Immigration reform is like that. Unlikely, we will have any kind of immigration reform any day soon. The opposition is just too great. But let’s see what makes immigration reform so difficult to attain. approximately 11 million undocumented people in the US. Some have been here long enough to have children and grand children. All born in the US and American citizens. How can you separate these children and call yourself a Christian or a humane person? That is one problem. The other problem in the influx of more undocumented immigrants. Not just Mexican. Some come with a visa and they forget to go home. From every country in the world. Just like the trafficking of drugs, you cannot stop the flow of immigrants.

We see Trump flaunting his imaginary powers as chief law enforcement officer.
He makes the saying, “laws are made to be broken.” real. He has given meaning to the believe that the president has broad powers, certainly every day he moves the boundary as to how much he can do without any intervention from Congress. With the Senate on his side, there is no limit. He can pardon criminals with the stroke of a pen.

Another voting season is upon us and the results are still frustrating. High Latino areas continue to have low turnout in voting. We have a constitutional crisis in our hands, and we do what we normally do, nothing. Nothing can be achieved in America with “do nothingers.” Nothing. I cannot tell you who to vote for, but I can tell you to go vote. It is your responsibility to know what you are voting for. Take a trip to the HWY 114 corridor. That is the future. I heard a joke that to me was offensive, to the person that said it a joke. It went like this, “This is not a Mexican voting place, there is no beer and no burritos.” Is this who we are? You don’t have to feel bad; this is what single-issue voting is all about. It does not have to be abortion, guns, medical or any other issue. Yes, it can be beer and burritos!!!

What is your motivation for voting? El Cordero
