 National LULAC President to Attend

This year’s honoree, Rose Olmos Herrera, is a former FWISD Board Member who successfully named two schools after Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. She also promoted the arts as Executive Artistic Director of the Rose Marine Theater, showcasing children’s productions and hosting Dolores Huerta for her documentary premiere.

Gerardo Contreras is honored in the Rising Star category for his work as an educator, mentor, and youth leader. As a family engagement specialist at World Languages Institute, he supports FWISD and coaches with My Brother’s Keeper, guiding high school students through key life transitions. He may be best known for his involvement with Artes de La Rosa and dedication to his students.

Another 2025 Latino Legacy is Gino Ayala, who has advocated for children’s cancer research for many years. Gino has organized an annual Car, Truck & Bike Show for over fifteen years, raising funds for Cooks Children’s Hospital’s research on pediatric brain tumors. He notes that this effort relies on support from family and friends and the public that attends year after year.

This year, we also included an in-memoriam recognition for Joe Govea. Joe exemplified a life dedicated to service, including his time serving his country in the Army, his faith through the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, his commitment to youth development as a founder of the Junior Golf Program with the Pan American Golf Association (PAGA).

Along with celebrating our 2025 Honorees, Roman Palomares, LULAC National President, will share key information relevant to our community.

While our event acknowledges individuals for their contributions, the focus remains on recognizing the work itself. Each honoree demonstrates that one person’s efforts can have a lasting impact. The aim is to encourage others to follow some of these examples and build upon their achievements. I would like to personally invite you to join us on Saturday October 11, complete information below.                                                                                                           We offer special student and senior citizens pricing. You may contact us by email for more information.
