Today is the 10th of January.  The nation is still reeling from the insurrection of the 6th of January, three Kings Day (Day of Epiphany) the day the Wise Men visited baby Jesus. Never has anybody tried to forcibly take over the legitimately elected government of the United States. In some countries around the world the perpetrators would have been rounded up and executed. That is how serious this crime is.

Radical Muslims kill in the name of Allah.

Radical Republicans kill in the name of God.

Like the song says, “do it in the name of heaven, you can justify it in the end.”

The search for the blame begins. The immediate cause was Trump, Hawley, Cruz, and all rogue Republicans that started the fire. The move is on to impeach Trump. Again. Pence does not want to invoke the 25th Amendment. Trump of course, refuses to resign. As usual, lies flourish. Trump and his followers are not willing to take responsibility for their actions. Trump like his followers will never accept that he lost the election.

Trump has exposed the racism that was dormant. I knew it was there. Many should have known the same thing. The people that let us down are those that were responsible for preventing an insurrection. The insurrection problem has been brewing for a long time. The start of the insurrection started with conservative radio talking heads. For years they have espoused a conservative takeover of the American government.

It was Republican willing to acquiesce to outlier groups with a simple vision. Many Republicans get elected on a simple agenda of being anti-abortion. The NRA has had a powerful influence on Republicans.  Simple agenda, pro-gun. It was Republicans that allowed first, concealed hand carry and then open carry weapons. The permit was for self-defense. No one that took part in the insurrection had a weapon for self-defense. Everyone needs to understand or realize, weapons are made to kill. Republicans are reaping the violence from the seeds they planted.

Groups such as the TEA Party, NRA and all pro-gun groups, anti-abortion groups including a Catholic Bishop that did not support Biden are fringe groups that do not have a political agenda. They are single issue groups. To get elected a politician can cater to all groups simultaneously. I am a Roman Catholic. I believe in life. I believe that the Catholic Bishop that told his flock to not vote for Biden was morally wrong. There are many situations in which some medical conditions develop that place a mother’s life in danger and make abortion a medical necessity.

Today is the 11th of January. Lot of talk about impeaching Trump. Some are asking for removal under the 25th Amendment. Trump has said it many times that we are a nation of laws. There are no exceptions. Sedition is a law. Under any circumstances should anyone involved in the insurrection be exonerated.  All need to suffer the consequences of trying to overturn the legitimate government of the United States. Facebook, twitter, and others have closed Trump’s accounts. Cumulus radio has told all talking heads that they cannot perpetuate the lie that Trump won. Trump is taking a trip to see his beautiful wall along the Texas southern border. He is trying to still motivate his base so they can see what he has done for them.

Those supposed Trump followers that are showing up for the riots are not followers anymore they are White nationalist, Supremacist, and independent hoodlums. Soon they will realize that Trump will soon be interred at the Pantheon of Ex-Presidents. Gone and forgotten.

Today is the 13th of January. For two days the house has debated impeaching Trump for the second time. A twice impeached president would be a historical first. Some Republicans are chewing the same crud from the first impeachment. Supposedly Republicans are afraid of Trump and threats from their constituents. The prevailing attitude of some is “Not worth my life or that of my family.” If this is true, then we have indeed inherited a dictatorship from Trump. With folks like these, the US would still be part of England. No guts.

When you have people like Congressman Jordan still spewing out lies it is easily to believe that Trump will not go away. From news reports the folks that participated in the insurrection are going to continue the insurrection at state capitals. But I recall Spain’s Franco and how it took a while for his legacy to go away.

This is the issue: 14th Amendment, Section 3

No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Today is the 14th of January. The nation wakes up to learn that their president has been impeached for a second time. As a parent this is a bridge I have crossed before when a child has done something wrong and you do not know how to confront the crisis. Do you punish or do you teach? Which is best? So, the congress had to confront the same crisis with Trump. What Trump did was clearly wrong. He incited an insurrection. With the end of his term is so close is it better to let him go. What are the future ramifications on the political side? Unilaterally, this is a decision made by Nancy Pelosi. Trump has belittled and insulted her so many times that it is easy to believe that this was an act of vengeance. Same for Schumer. Above all the fray, Democrats and Republicans must consider what is best for America.

Change has come to America.
