Most in our community are not happy (to say the least) with the 2024 presidential election. And there are many reasons why. If that is you then you know.
I am sure that many of my reasons are like yours, Pero, maybe not all. For more than anything he (Trump) is a real threat to our democracy and freedoms most have taken for granted all our lives. And beyond that he and his group of MAGA supporters love divisive politics, for them, it is always us against them.
In public they love to wave the Trump flag in your face like a New Confederate flag and wear their Red MAGA hats like people wear team caps. Close to my home someone erected a large Trump wooden sign in their yard complete with Christmas lights.
That makes many, including me feel like ‘I get your candidate won’ time to move on the election is over. When Biden won in 2020, I removed my one yard sign the next day and NO I never owned a Biden cap. Pero here we are two months past the election and far too many people are waving their Trump flags in your face.
It is if they adopted MAGA is part of their identity as if they now should be identified as Trump Americans. Which reminds me sometime… I want to say in 90s Republicans (of course) who started saying you must be American not a hyphened like Mexican American, African American etc. Which to me sounded like just another reason to Bag on minorities. Besides, I did not get up one day and started calling myself that ‘Some White person gave me that label’ Along with the Hispanic label.
To conclude whether your candidate won or lost it is time to move on and get into the business of governing for the good of all.
