The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) will team up with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to host their first 2025 monthly mobile food pantry event on campus Friday (Jan. 17) from 9 a.m.-noon (or until the food runs out). The monthly giveaway is designed to help as an increasing number of North Texans struggle to buy groceries and make ends meet.

Last year, UNT Dallas’s monthly pantries distributed 566,306 pounds of food to 17,686 people, pointing to the ongoing need for assistance. And the need continues. In fact, according to the NTFB, one out of every six children in North Texas is food insecure. Additionally, the USDA reports that Texas has the second-highest rate of food insecurity in the nation at 16.9%, with nearly 5.1 million Texans at risk for hunger.
