La segunda temporada de Drag Race España se estrenó el 27 de marzo. Y ahora ya hay tres episodios disponibles para mirar en línea en Wowpresents Plus. La serie ofrece una perspectiva íntima a la cultura LGBT y de drag en España.

En el primer episodio, las reinas tuvieron que mostrar dos estilos diferentes en la pasarela. El tema del primer estilo tenía que ver con una persona famosa de su pueblo natal y el segundo con un símbolo de su pueblo natal. Por mostrar estos estilos, las reinas estaban enseñando al público la cultura e historia LGBT en España. Por ejemplo, una de las reinas escogió rendir homenaje al artista José Pérez Ocaña quien vivía en Barcelona y era un activista LGBT. Ocaña desafió a la sociedad conservadora por catalizar el movimiento social punk y dirigió protestas contra la dictadura franquista en España. Drag Race España ha tenido mucho éxito recientemente.

Además, el segundo episodio de la temporada tiene 9.9 de 10 estrellas en IMDb, que es la clasificación más alta de todas las franquicias a nivel mundial de Drag Race. En el segundo episodio las reinas tuvieron que mostrar sus habilidades únicas en un concurso de talento. Una de las reinas cantó una canción de la ópera Carmen en francés mientras hacía un estriptís, la cuál asombró a los jueces y al público mirándolo en casa. Ella debería haber ganado el concurso del talento, pero una tiritera ganó en vez de ella.

Y luego el tema de la pasarela fue “día de la bestia”. Entonces las reinas tenían que disfrazarse como bestias o criaturas de horror. Por ejemplo, una reina se disfrazó como El Cucuy, y otra se disfrazó como una muñeca de vudú. Ambas eran bastante espantosas. Otra reina se disfrazó como un insecto gigante, incluso se maquilló con muchos ojos y dientes artificiales. Todos las costumbres eran muy impresionantes. Una de las razones Drag Race España ha tenido tanto éxito es porque exhibe el talento de tantas reinas de drag extraordinarias.

The second season of Drag Race Spain premiered on March 27. And now there are three episodes available to watch online on Wowpresents Plus. The series offers an intimate perspective on LGBT and drag culture in Spain. In the first episode the queens had to show two looks on the catwalk. The theme of the first look had to do with a famous person from their hometown and the second with a symbol of their hometown.

By showing off these looks, the queens were teaching the public about LGBT culture and history in Spain. For example, one of the queens chose to pay homage to the artist José Pérez Ocaña who lived in Barcelona and was an LGBT activist. Ocaña challenged conservative society for catalyzing the punk social movement and led protests the Franco dictatorship in Spain. Recently, Drag Race Spain has been phenomenally successful. Additionally, the second episode of the season has a 9.9 out of 10 stars on IMDb, which is the highest rating of any Drag Race franchise worldwide. In the second episode, the queens had to show off their unique skills in a talent show.

One of the queens sang a song from the opera Carmen in French while doing a striptease, which wowed the judges and the audience watching at home. She should have won the talent show, but some puppeteer won instead. And then the runway theme was “day of the beast.” So, the queens had to disguise themselves as beasts or creatures of horror. For example, one queen dressed as El Cucuy, and another dressed as a voodoo doll. They were both awful. Another queen disguised herself as a giant insect, even making herself up with lots of artificial eyes and teeth. All the customs were very impressive. One of the reasons Drag Race Spain has been so successful is because it highlights the talent of so many extraordinary drag queens.
