Exert from February Cover Article on Hola Texas Print

I asked Joe about some of his heroes outside the music industry.” First, I would have to reference my father, although he did not have a formal education, he was one of the wisest men I knew”. In fact, he stated that his new award-winning book No Llore Chingon” is something he often said. Which he meant as “You have to pick yourself up and keep going” Outside his dad he named Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta and Muhmmed Ali. He also mentioned Corky Gonzles and Reis Tijerina as some the leaders of the Chicano Civil Rights Movement. However, it was clear that Cesar and Dolores were top of his list. Cesar for basically dedicating his life to improve the life of others and Dolores at Ninety-Two still inspiring and motivating people to service. He also went on to say that Dolores was the one that first coined the phrase “Si Se Puede”. This happened after completing a speech in Phoenix. Joe shared that there will be a new Doc. coming out about Dolores soon that will highlight this.
