Science fiction horror film director Gerard Johnstone started the year off by introducing us to his creepy, artificially intelligent doll M3GAN. Akela Cooper, from Cooper’s story, wrote the nightmarish story along with James Wan. It stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, who you might recognize from her brilliant performance in Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. Two different actresses play the doll itself as the voice and the beauty.

After Cady (Violet McGraw) loses the bother of her parents, she is ultimately left alone except for her aunt Gemma (Allison Williams). Although Gemma wasn’t prepared to become a mom overnight, she understood her new role and quickly fell into her new role as a mom to Cady. However, Gemma and Cady found it challenging to bond; Gemma seemed more interested in a career as a robotics engineer. But the tides begin to turn when Cady is interested in her aunt’s work. Cady’s sudden interest in Gemma’s newest project inspired her to finish the latest creation. Gemma created a Model 3 Generative Android that she named M3GAN. She couldn’t wait to introduce Caddy to her new friend, but the excitement soon turned to horror.

M3GAN becomes exceedingly aware and soon starts to belove she knows better than everyone, even her creator. As grisly murders start happening around Cady and Gemma, M3GAN looks less like a fun toy and more like a murder suspect.

Since the release of this creepy flick, it has had mixed reviews. Some were disappointed with the lack of gore, but others enjoyed the cool spin on evil A. I. dolls. If you want a fun, scary movie, this one is definitely worth the watch. M3GAN 2.0 is already underway and set to release in January,2025
