After a couple of challenging years, 2023 promises to be much brighter! Bilingual VIDA Bilingüe, the non-profit organization based in Dallas, is excited to announce the return of their second annual Bilingual Fest celebration. The competition aims to celebrate bilingualism and bring hope to the community after the challenges faced in the past couple of years.

The competition is open to participants from any part of the world. As of today, there are contestants from nine different nationalities who live in and outside of the U.S. and who are prepared to share their bilingual pride. The first preliminary round includes a “Pitch It!” competition, where contestants convince a jury of why being bilingual is a superpower, and a “Mi Vida” contest where Latinas share narratives about their bilingual lives. Both contests offer cash prizes of $750 and $500 respectively, and the first preliminary round ends on March 3, 2023, at the Bilingual Fest event. The second round is open until April 20, 2023 with a Grand Finale at the end of the school year, 2023.

The Bilingual VIDA Bilingüe Board of Directors will appoint a panel of judges who will select the winners for each category using a rubric and voting process. Finalists will attend the hybrid event on March 3, 2023, which includes a bilingual pride show. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Claude Goldenberg, Emeritus Professor from Stanford University and there will be other special guests and recognitions of advocates of bilingual education.

About Bilingual VIDA Bilingüe

Bilingual VIDA Bilingüe is an organization that thrives in unity, harmony, and a better future through bilingualism. “Bilinguals represent a community that contributes greatly to the economy, education, and the optimal preparation for the future because bilingualism is a tool. A tool that builds roads and bridges. A tool that opens doors and paves the way for our next generations”. Explained Annette Torres Elías, Ph.D., professor at Texas Woman’s University and member of the BVB Board of Directors.

This effort to elevate the image of Bilingual Education started two years ago with an impactful international event and it plans to continue from now on, thanks to the collaboration of all volunteers, members, and community leaders involved. For more information, please visit: www.vidabilingue.org
